Why this score
Peer spending is descriptive. A household spending less than its peers is not automatically healthier, and spending more is not automatically unhealthy. Healthcare, education, housing, family size and local circumstances can make a higher category appropriate.
Health direction is personal. The action engine puts a recurring deficit, insufficient liquid reserve and high-interest debt ahead of cosmetic category optimization. It limits the action list to the highest-impact items.
Benchmark method: ShareCapsule starts with BLS 2023 national income-quintile spending means and adjusts each category using the corresponding BLS 2023 Census-region-to-U.S. spending ratio. This produces a transparent regionalized income peer estimate. It is not the official BLS region × income cross-tabulation. BLS publishes exact two-year cross-tabulated tables separately.
